Set up Smart Kiosk.

Overview

Initial Kiosk setup is done from the Smart Kiosks list by clicking the “Add new kiosk” button. You'll need to make some decisions about how your team is allowed to use the Smart Kiosk to set it up. Required settings will show up in the Smart Kiosk setup flow with defaults. You can always edit configurations in the future.

Configure

Go to the Smart Kiosks list to change your Kiosk configuration. Click on the three dots ⋮ behind each kiosk in the list. Choose configure to make the wanted changes. Choose unlink if you have decided to stop using the kiosk and want to remove it from usage.

Subscribe

To utilize the Smart Kiosk feature, you must subscribe. After you click the “Add new kiosk” button, you will see Smart Kiosk is a paid add-on. Click on “Subscribe” if you wish to continue setting up the Smart Kiosk. To learn more about pricing, refer to our documentation here.

Add name & choose location

Now, you need to choose a name for the kiosk based on its placement, such as the front door, kitchen wall or order counter. If you have multiple locations, you must choose the specific location where your device is located. Click on the “Continue” button to proceed with the setup.

Link device

Download and install the Heybegin Kiosk app on your preferred device. You can find the iOS app in the Apple App Store and the Android app in Google Play. We recommend using an iPad or Android tablet specifically for this purpose. Alternatively, you can use any computer with a browser by going to the link https://kiosk.heybegin.com. Pro tip: Restaurants can utilise their existing POS computers. Open the Heybegin app or browser, type in the 4-digit authentication code, and press “Continue” to link the device. Return to your setup flow. You should see a success message. Click "Continue" to proceed. To learn more about recommended kiosk hardware, refer to our documentation here.

Configure kiosk settings

By default, employees can clock in/out using a 4-digit PIN or scan the QR code with their smartphone. If you want to change the default settings, toggle the options on or off.

Subscribe to complete setup

To complete the Heybegin Kiosk setup, you must have an active subscription for the professional time-tracking feature. If you do not have it, you are presented with the option to subscribe to both of them simultaneously. Click “Subscribe” to complete the setup.

Checkout

Once you enter your payment details, you will receive a 1-month free trial. If you are checking out as a business and are eligible for VAT, choose the "I'm purchasing as a business option".
